Can't be too much help here, I'm afraid; I'm not a fan of horror movies, and don't really know what any good ones are. Only things that pop to mind are the fairly obvious ones, like Nightmare on Elm Street and the original Halloween.

Same. A source of personal facepalmage is when I couldn't make myself watch The Ring at midnight. Instead, I just went to bed while my five year old cousin was eating popcorn and watching it with a smile...

I hate hate HATE The Ring. Around the time I first watched it, I had an old TV in my room (I used it to play N64/SNES), and my brother would sneak in once I'd fallen asleep and turn it on, so I'd wake up to the sound of TV static. Nearly wet myself. Sad

The Ring is based on the Japanese film Ringu. And I think The Grudge is based on a Japanese film as well... Don't ask me if they're any good, though, I don't watch horror.
