| Is it just me or is Metallica's new album a little....urm.....wetter than the albums preceding it?
Admittedly, I've only heard two songs, that's why I want your opinions, before I go out and pay money for it. Definitely, The Day The Never Comes is by far the weakest I've heard from them. I'm not saying the song's all that bad, but I think it kind of detracts a little talent from these usually talented musicians, especially Lars on the drums. The incessant and monotonous drumbeat throughout the song is a little disappointing considering what the bloke has done in the past.
Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this, I'd love to know.

| I haven't picked it up either, but I was wondering the same thing... It seems better then St. Anger, which I didn't like, but I wish they'd go back to a sound similar to their early sound, or at the very least a new sound I like. | |

Guh...St Anger...man, that was just disorganised drumming and James Hetfield straining to sound gruff...muchos crapola. Yeah, DM is a tad 'consumer friendly' in my opinion, it just sounds so diluted and weak. Shame really.

| Have Metallica's songs and videos always been political based?
I was watching the video for All Nightmare Long and I read this: Wiki, and it seems they're putting a great deal of political views into their songs of late (read between the lines on this one).
And obviously The Day The Never Comes is political.
But was all of their songs like this? I didn't see many of their earlier stuff, so I'd really like to know.

| I actually really liked most of the album but it of course isnt near the quality nor will any of there music these days be to the likes of Ride the Lightning, Master of the Puppets or ....And Justice for All.
Its not an essensial purchase but it was a better album than i negatively expected it to be

| Well, it's most definitely NOT emo, not Metallica's best album, but a great album regardless. | |

| I think not. But Lars's drumming has always been just decent and in this newest one, his toy drums sound like absolute shit. The guitar work is still quite above average, but could someone get balding prick a real snare? Or possibly replace him with a real drummer like Danny Carey? | |
